ABOUT THE PIECE:
It is an understatement to say that no one expected, or wanted the type of year that 2020 turned out to be. So many people, businesses, activities, and educational opportunities have been harmed and even destroyed by this horrible pandemic. COVID-19 most assuredly came into all of our lives like an UNINVITED guest that seems to have wanted nothing but harm. It has SHATTERED so many things, and it will be up to all of us to put the pieces back together again.

WCU’s Gold Drumline, Front Ensemble, and Rhythm Section were able to piece together a two-minute production that exemplifies our feelings. With no pre-camps, no band camp, and only two short rehearsals per week, the membership unified to defy the odds and make music together nonetheless.

Through the musical mash of “Uninvited” by Alanis Morissette, and the masterful work of “Shatter Me” by Lindsey Stirling, we have been able to express ourselves through music and show our contempt for the virus, but our hope for the future.

STRENGTH DOES NOT COME FROM WHAT YOU CAN DO. STRENGTH COMES FROM OVERCOMING THE THINGS YOU THOUGHT YOU ONCE COULD NOT.
