It’s a special sort of feeling as a transperson watching this adopted melancholic transanthem performed in a stadium in my homestate of Indiana and winning. Especially after playing a bit of Metropolis; a film which also explicitly references the nonconsensual contruction of bodies of the marginalised (women* in that case, and yes there were transpeople in Berlin in the 1920s).
Ok this song is actually fire, but this is something I’m surprised I haven’t heard many, if any drum corps at all do, is audio samples that sing the song with some changed lyrics. For the past two years, my high schools indoor drum line has done that. It helps establish the shows story more, which would really help some shows be even greater.
