2019 Western Carolina University “Pride of the Mountains” – Part I

The students and staff of the 2019 “Pride of the Mountains” Marching Band are proud to present their 2019 production entitled, “Believe”.

About our 2019 production…
A famous quote from Siegfried states, “When you think at that moment, that it is impossible…THEN the magic starts!” Overcoming personal obstacles in life, having the confidence to make miracles happen, while leaning on each other for support is the motivation for our 2019 production entitled, “Believe.” Iconic to the Macy’s storefront in New York City as well as their annual holiday campaign, this word will serve as a season long motivation for the Pride of the Mountains marching band. Through musical and visual pageantry, we will illustrate the power of believing in ourselves, each other as human beings, and recognizing the value of diversity in our world. A magical realization occurs when we acknowledge that dreams may become realities, that “what ifs” may reveal themselves in miracles, and that through the power of imagination, we “Believe!”

Part One of our show focuses on believing in yourself. Having the confidence to do things that you never dreamed possible and the importance of taking chances to achieve a better “you.” Performing music from “The Greatest Showman,” our audiences will be treated to “Come Alive,” which is full of promise and creates a belief that all things are possible through your personal goal to accomplish them. This movement will showcase a virtuosic music ensemble accompanied by “U” shaped set pieces. As we conclude the opening movement of our show, Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” serves as a reminder that the only thing in life that you regret, are the risks that you didn’t take. Taking a risk is full of reward, even if you do not succeed. For in that moment, you may learn more about yourself from merely attempting. Live in the moment, live life to its fullest, but above all, “Believe in yourself!”
