At my first ever marching competition, I was fiddling around with my hat(the big traditional one with the feathers) and it was just wasn’t feeling comfortable. We march out to our spots and before the drum major salutes, we put our heads down. Sure enough, I feel the hat slowly, painfully starts to slip and finally it just falls off. After the salute, we return to an attention position and one of our staff runs on the field and plops the hat back on me. Sadly, at the end of our show, we slowly bow our heads and of course, it falls off again. For the rest of my time in high school, that thing was strapped on tight. Ugh…
